Human Selection

Periklis Lazarou is experimenting with contemporary technologies in order to develop a Digital Music Instrument (DMI), a tool for composing music with an intuitive way. The project will conclude with the use of the developed DMI in a live improvised performance. 

 

Artists need to design and develop their own music instruments tailor made on them to fit their needs and purpose. Artists mould their own music instruments and music instruments influence their work. In Human Selection the Digital Music Instrument that will be developed works as an extension of the artist’s body and as a means to express himself. During this period the artist will experiment with two different components Bela & Prototype PCB that are used in many contemporary DIY produced DMIs.  

 

Τhis Facebook Page is part of this procedure and stands for two reasons:

First of all it is an open invitation for people from various disciplines to share their thoughts, emotions and insights on Human Selection. Music Producers, Academics, Music Instrument Creators, Music Technicians and anyone from non related disciplines that are willing to contribute on this project are welcomed to participate in this open dialogue. 

Second it works as a timeline to document the process of a Digital Music Instrument creation and the process towards a live improvised performance. Each DMI testing and improvisation will be recorded so that everyone can have a look on what was achieved and even propose any improvements.

Periklis Lazarou 

 

Human Selection combines the past and present of Periklis Lazarou between his past studies on biology and his current studies on music production. It is a transitive project that will work as a base for his future career as a music producer.
